Bear watching Slovakia offers guided Tours to see bears in their natural environment in High Tatras accompanied by a local wildlife expert. Walking in bear territory is a unique and life time experience. The very experienced guide with hundreds of encounters with bears will take you to the best places to spot bears in wild nature. In 2025 we do approximately 40 bear watching tours, where you have the highest chances to observe and spot bears in wild nature. We have a bear sighting success rate of over 95% throughout the whole season.
Indicative timetable:
PROGRAM (time is approximate – it will change according to the season)
- 13:00 - Meeting at the lower parking lot at Podbanske
- 13:00 – 14:30 – Hike through the valley in the Western Tatras, approx. 1.5 hours up to one of the three adjacent Tatra valleys (Western Tatras) to the bear spotting places
- 14:30 – 18:30 - Arriving at wild bear viewing sites offering the best chances to spot a brown bear, combined with insights into the bears’ lives in the valley and training on how to behave in case of an encounter.
- 18:30 – 20:30 – The way back along the hiking trail to the parking lot at Podbanske.
